Exclusive Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Video Shows You How The Sequel's Big Scenes Were Filmed
It used to be, when a major Hollywood blockbuster opened in theaters, fans had to wait months for the movie to reach home video before they could watch exclusive behind-the-scenes making of content that pulled back the curtain and taught audiences how movie magic tricks were performed. How very 2005. You don't want to wait. You want to come out of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and see exactly how Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and director JA Bayona brought the dinosaurs back to life for this high-powered sequel. This full clip, provided by Universal Studios, has exclusive interviews with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, following them all the way back to day one on the set of JA Bayona's sequel. We are treated to behind-the-scenes clips of the cast shooting pivotal scenes in Isla Nublar, and in the Lockwood mansion, an important set piece in the back half of the film. And the clip focuses on the use of practical effects in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, to avoid CGI and bring the dinosaurs to life in ways that harken back to how Steven Spielberg did it, back in the day.
So far, audiences have been responding in kind to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Even before it started screening on U.S. screens, the movie had opened in international territories, and had banked north of $340 million dollars. In preview screenings on Thursday night in the States, Fallen Kingdom roared to a $15.3 million estimated start, putting the sequel on a comfortable pace to make $130 million in its debut frame. That would be less than the $208M earned by Jurassic World, but I think that film had a nostalgia factor because the franchise had been off the big screens for years.
